Our Winged Edition LUNAs are our most recent design with side posts which we call wings. Wings make it easier for you to adjust your laces, using the channels on the wings. They also raise the laces up, away from the sandal footbed providing overall more security, especially to the heel strap.

Our Retro style lacing system is our older lacing system. Retros can take a little longer to get used to the adjustment but once dialed in, they work just as well as the wings. Our Retro laces come with a removable, extra velcro strap that attaches to your heel strap and goes in front of your ankle. Tech strap secures the heel strap in place for our retro style laces and it also provides more security around the ankle.

We almost always recommend our Winged Edition laces for first time customers. They are a super easy slip on, slip off, infinitely adjustable sandal. 

We still offer the Retros, because some of our customers really love what they got in the past and they prefer to keep getting the same design.  Some customers also find the lacing style more secure.The Retro design is also great for those who find the wings just aren't for them. 

A Roots sandal has traditional tie-up leather laces. These sandals were inspired by the traditional runners of the Tarahumara, or self-called Rarámuri. We carry many different (including build your own) models which come in both slip-on and multi-wrap lengths. The laces are 3/8" thick on our standard builders. These sandals are perfect for everyday wear, lifestyle occasions, and some customers even love these for running!
